The history of the steam mills is finished

Róbert Szabó, the permanent author of the Museum of Steam, has completed the history of steam mills. The steam mills, mostly located in Budapest, were founded in the 1860s and 70s by grain merchants. Because they needed a lot of water to operate, they were built near the Danube. Although the majority of the mills have been demolished, several buildings (e.g. Concordia, Gizella, Hungária Mill) in the Soroksári Street area still stand today.

He has also developed the stories of two personalities linked to them:

Emil Bacher was a key manager of the Pesti Viktória Steam Mill, and Sándor Stux was a key manager of the First Budapest Steam Mill Joint Stock Company.
