Károly Barcza de Nagyalásony Jr.

Károly Barcza was born in Budapest in 1894. He was educated in the capital, where he graduated from secondary school. He then began his studies at the University of Art and Design, but did not finish.

From 1917 to 1919 he worked at the Hungarian General Credit Bank. In 1919 he worked as a clerk at the Alföldi Sugar Factory. From 1920 to 1928, he held a managerial position at the Sarkad Hemp Factory, before returning to the Alföldi Sugar Factory. From 1930 to 1939 he was director of the Alföldi Cukorgyár, and from 1939 to 1945 he was its general manager. He was awarded numerous honours in recognition of his work. He was awarded the Hungarian Cross of Merit, Second Class, the Grand Cross of Malta and the Bailiwick of the Order of Malta.

During the Horthy era, he was an embassy counsellor at the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Budapest, and later an honorary member of the Order. He was also president of the National Lelencház Society of the White Cross. He was a member of the National Casino, the Park Club, the National Economic Club and the Automobile Club.

Through his wife, he also became close to the Horthy family, as István Horthy the Younger's wife was the niece of Barcza's wife.

During this period, he held senior management positions in a number of companies. He was chairman of the Hungária United Steam Mill, the Agricultural Industry Joint Stock Company, the Italian-Hungarian Rice Husking Joint Stock Company and the Joint Stock Company for Transport Companies. He was also vice-president of the Beocsin Cement Factory and a director of the Fiumei Hitelbank and the Hungarian General Hitelbank.

In 1947 he emigrated to Switzerland. He died in Boston in 1963.
