Lajos Mándy
He was born in Budapest in 1884. After finishing his university studies, he followed his father's career at the Bankverein in Vienna.
He worked here for four years. After that he joined the Hungarian General Credit Bank, where he became head. He married on 27 September 1909 in Budapest.
He took part in the First World War. He served as a reserve officer in the 6th Hussars Regiment.
In the autumn of 1926, he was given a senior position at the Hitelbank. From 1930, he headed the central department of rural branches and affiliation of the Credit Bank. In the autumn of 1938, he became managing director of the Hitelbank.
During its operation, the Hungarian General Savings Bank was merged into a credit bank. This was a major task, considering that Lajos Mándy had been in charge of 30 rural branches and institutions. During the revisions, he took an active part in the economic reintegration of the returned territories by preparing the ground for the administration of credit in the Highlands and Transylvania. Through his position, he held senior positions in a number of companies. He was a director of the Beocsin Cement Works Unio Joint Stock Company, Ganz-Danubius and the General Agricultural and Commercial Joint Stock Company. He was vice-president of the Láng Engineering Works, while his father Lajos Mándy Sr. was president of the Szentlőrincz Brickworks Joint Stock Companies.
In 1940, he was appointed Chief Adviser to the Treasury, and in addition to his posts, he served as an adviser to the Minister of Trade.
