Pál Kornfeld, Baron
Pál Kornfeld was born into the Kornfeld family of Baron Kornfeld in 1884, the second son of Zsigmond Kornfeld, and was therefore also the brother-in-law of Dr. Mór Domony.
Before that he worked in the Hermes Hungarian General Exchange. He then held senior positions in the Hungarian General Credit Bank for nearly three decades. In 1925 he was elected deputy general manager of the bank. In his last years as administrateur delegue, he was in charge of foreign business. He played a particularly important role in banking transactions with the Rotschild family in London.
But he has also held senior positions in a number of other companies. He was chairman of the Paper Industry Limited Company. He was also a director of the Hermes Hungarian General Exchange, the Hungarian Sugar Industry Joint Stock Company, the Cotton Industry Joint Stock Company and the Rice Husking Joint Stock Company.
In the early 1930s, he resigned from his position as a stock exchange councilor and went abroad. The press reported that he retired from the credit bank in 1931, along with 39 other officers, but remained a member of the board as long as he served
In 1937, the press reported that he was living in Paris.
