Gyula Gerlóczy dr. de Lower Viszoka

Born on 18 October 1868 in Pest-Buda. He was a member of the Gerlóczy family of Lower Visoka, an old Croatian landed gentry family, originally surnamed Mattekovich, but in 1848 Imre Mattekovich took the name "Gerlóczy" surname.

Following his secondary school and university studies, he obtained a doctorate.

After completing his studies, he entered the judiciary in 1890. In 1894, he was appointed to the Ministry of Finance, where he worked as a departmental adviser and director of the Finance Department of the Hungarian State Railways from 1914. He participated in the drafting and implementation of Article XXIX of Law No. 1908. As a financial writer, he published numerous articles on economic topics.

In 1919 he was appointed Secretary of State. After the collapse of the Soviet Republic, he was president of the Hungarian State Railways for two months. He retired in 1924. After that, however, he was not idle. He was also on the board of directors of the "Adria" shipping company (Adria Maritime Shipping Ltd., Brasov Cellulose Factory Ltd., Weapon and Machine Factory Ltd., Láng L. Machine Factory Ltd., Hungarian Eastern Shipping Ltd.).

In 1922, he was appointed Government Commissioner for National Housing Construction. In 1929, he became Secretary General of the National Savings Commission.

He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Franz Joseph on 10 December 1904, and on 14 February 1905 he was awarded the title of Ministerial Secretary.

He died in 1947.
